This is an open, free-wheeling blog about the Rays. If you have something to say, say it here.

Will Tampa Bay Be a Factor in September?

Well, Tampa Bay is currently (temporarily) out of first place in the AL East thanks to a seven-game losing streak leading into the All-Star break. But the young Rays still have better starting pitching than most teams in their division (including the Yankees). Tampa also has a good, young offensive lineup and some speed to boot on the basepaths. I have tickets for a first-ever trip to Fenway Park in early September. Could that game possibly mean anything when it rolls around?
Scott Kazmir Ready for Opening Day Start

Many fans aren't that familiar with the Devil Rays best pitcher even though he made the AL all-star team last season. Sunday, Tampa Bay won for just the third time this spring behind Kazmir's 5+ inning effort. The southpaw star gave up three earned runs, including a two-run home run to the Phils' Pat Burrell but he also struck out seven and only walked one. Kazmir looks to be rounding into early-season form. That's good because the Devil Rays need him to be sharp every time he starts.

Spring Training Away from Al Lang Field?

Please, say it ain't so. Anyone have verification of this news?
