At the tender age of 20, Felix Hernandez could be the AL's best pitcher, even better than Yohan Santana of the Twins. What a treasure the Mariners have if he can continue to mature and most important, maintain the great control he showed in his first start when he struck out a dozen Oakland A's. To put it simply, his stuff is electric. I will make a point of seeing Hernandez pitch every chance I get.

I agree he was very impressive last night. The only thing I worry about is that we have seem many young arms get hurt in the past few years. I think think the Mariners should really pace this kid to make sure this doesnt happen to him.

Boy, that's the truth. The Mariners should give him extra rest whenever possible. He doesn't need to throw 200 innings at this age. Mainly because, if he does it now, the odds are against Hernandez being able to do it at the (still young) age of 30.

Wow. A one-hitter against the Red Sox? This kid is something special. 97-99 MPH fastball and a full range of offspeed pitches to go with it. In this game he overshadowed Daisuke with absolute ease. And watching him perform in front of a hostile crowd against one of the best lineups in baseball...that is a whole lot of fun!
