Compared to other high-priced pitchers like Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina and Andy Pettite, the Red Sox' Daisuke Matsuzaka deal may not be so bad. It's definitely better than the $16 million Barry Bonds will make next year. I mean, Matsuzaka's base salary is a mere $6 million. Of course, Boston had to pay $51+ million to have the right to sign him in the first place. Still, the Sox' rotation now looks like one of the strongest in the bigs.
